NORMAN — Winners of the last five Big 12 titles and a participant in each of the last three College Football Playoffs, the Oklahoma football team begins the fourth year of the Lincoln Riley era ranked sixth in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll, which was released Thursday.
 
This marks the 19th time in the last 21 seasons that OU has been ranked eighth or higher in the annual preseason coaches poll.
 
The Sooners are one of four Big 12 teams in this year's preseason Amway Coaches Poll. Texas is eight spots behind OU at No. 14 while Oklahoma State is ranked No. 16 and Iowa State is at No. 25. Baylor, TCU and Kansas State are among teams receiving votes.
 
The rest of the top 10 consists of No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 LSU, No. 7 Penn State, No. 8 Florida, No. 9 Oregon and No. 10 Notre Dame.
 
Oklahoma was the preseason pick to win the Big 12 Conference again by the media and boasts a league-high five players on the 2020 Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
 
Junior wide receiver Charleston Rambo, junior offensive linemen Creed Humphrey and Adrian Ealy, junior defensive end Ronnie Perkins and sophomore placekicker Gabe Brkic were among the 29 players to earn preseason all-conference recognition by position. Additionally, redshirt freshman quarterback Spencer Rattler was selected as the Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
