Businesses honored with Civic Improvement Awards Featured

Poteau, OKLAHOMA - The Poteau Chamber of Commerce presented four Civic Improvement Awards to area businesses that have remodeled or built new facilities in Poteau in 2018.

 

 

These business and community partners where presented their award at the 100th Poteau Chamber of Commerce Banquet held on Thursday, Feb 28, 2019 at the Donald W Reynolds Center in Poteau.

 

 

 


Poteau Familly Fitness


Owned by Lance Sconyers moved from its previous location on Broadway to an all new more spacious facilty located just off McKenna on Witte in Poteau.


The new location was completely remodeled after being vacant for several years.


The old location in the past years was Hamlin Manafacturing.


The new location provides a clean, well lighted, safe, family atmosphere with more amenties such as student passess, a child area, basketball courts, lounge area and 24 hour access.

Pinnancle Health Care

 

Pinnancle Health Care is owned by PJ & Jarel Brown.

 

Located 210 West Robert St. Just behind Marvins IGA.


Pinnnacle Health is a full service primary care facility for your entire family providing pediatric care and well check-ups for children, women, men's health, chronic disease management and sesthetics.

 

Pinnacle Health features three full time providers, nine exam rooms and a full lab with in house testing, drug screens and D.O.T. physicals.


They are currently accepting new patients and walk-ins are welcomed.

 


The Choctaw Food Distribution Center


The Choctaw Food Distribution Center was built as a part of The Choctaw Nation continuing commitment to better serve our tribal members, it is a state of the art facility and strategically located so that we can not only serve tribal members in the immediate area, but those in the newly expanded service area in the counties in Arkansas that border the Choctaw Nation as well.

 

The Store will serve approximately 675 families per month and will provide one million dollars’ worth of food annually.

Choctaw Health Wellness

The Original Poteau Wellness Center opened in July of 2015 with a 6,100 square foot facility complete with a half-court basketball gym and a basic fitness area with cardio and cable machines and one employee.


Within the first year the facility received over 1,500 visits per month. Once fully staffed with 7 employees the monthly visits grew to over 2,500 visits per month.


After out growing the facility a new 13,500 sq foot facility was constructed and opened in May of 2018.


The current Faciltiy has a 1/2 court basketball court, 2 fitness class rooms, a large cross-fit area and a multiple top of the line exercise machine and free weight area.

 

In August 2018 the Poteau located host the first Tushka Warrior Games.


The facility has many classes for all ages with cross-fit, zumba, spin class and Sr. chair volleybally teams.


The faciilty is also used by local sports school teams from Poteau, Howe and Wister.


Law Enforcement, EMT's, Fire Fighters and Military also receive access.


The Choctaw Nation is excited to be playing a huge role in creating a healthier and stronger community.
