What a whirlwind of a month! After all of the planning and list making, it is still hard to believe that Christmas is here.

Admittedly, this has been one of my least organized Christmases ever. It just goes to show you can do all of the planning in the world, but life is still happening, no matter how much we try to control it.

That’s where the constant list making becomes critical. The lists allow me to adjust based upon things that are crucial and things that I would just like to do. Anyway, at this point, that’s neither here nor there because we’re “down to the nut cutting” as Donnie would say. By the way, I never really knew where that phrase came from or what its true origin of meaning is, so I Googled it. It’s actually used in a political setting.

According to www.politicaldictionary.comthe official definition is, “the point when you have tried everything but failed.

While the term originally refers to the effort required to remove a rusted or stripped nut, it has come to be used in a legislative context as the time to exert maximum effort to round up votes to get a bill passed due to an approaching deadline.”

Ok, now that you’ve had your lesson for the day, let’s get on to last minute decorating. Here are my very fast and effective tips:

Roses: Grab a bouquet of red or white roses from the grocery store and make a small arrangement or two from the table.

Christmas greens: Add sprigs to various spots on your buffet. This adds a nice festive element and softens up all the hard lines of the table and containers.

Foraged sticks: No fireplace, no problem. Ashton improvised by converting a stick she found in the yard to a makeshift stocking hanger.

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas. From the Wise family to you, Merry Christmas!
