Jonathan "Opie" Maxwell was born February 10, 1985 to Richard and Judy (Meier) Maxwell in Fort Smith, Arkansas and passed away February 18, 2018 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 33.


Jonathan married Latoya Whitfield on April 30, 2011 in Spiro, Oklahoma.


Opie is survived by his wife, LaToya (Whitfield) Maxwell of the home, daughters, Justyce Maxwell of the home, MaAliyah Whitfield Maxwell of the home, son, Corey Burton of Arkoma, Oklahoma, parents, Richard and Judy Maxwell of Arkoma, Oklahoma, William and JoAnna Whitfield of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma, sisters, Andrea Kershaw and husband Tony of Arkoma, Oklahoma.

Kimberly Taylor of Victorville, California, brothers, Duane Maxwell of Muldrow, Oklahoma.

Mike Skully of Springfield, Tennessee, William Whitfield, II and wife Ashley of Tulsa, Oklahoma and McKinley Whitfield of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lester and Earlene Maxwell, Evette and Grandma Red Meier, and Samuel and Willie Mae Whitfield.


Opie liked to hunt and fish. He loved being with his family and friends.


Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Victory Worship Center in Spiro, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.


Burial will follow at Fort Coffee Cemetery with Reverend Tashla Devrow officiating.


Pallbearers will be, Todd Jerrell, Jamie Cox, Cody Parson, Jason Beaver, Tyrone Beaver, and Andre Walker.

Honorary Pallbearers will be, William Whitfield II, McKinley Whitfield, Sean Donahue, Tony Kershaw, and La Pierce Gordon.


Flower girls will be, Monica Moreton, Sabrina Hoskins, and Mandy Batt.

Viewing with Friends and family will be Friday from 6pm - 8pm.
