Melvin “Sporty Dave” Cossey Obituary

Melvin “Sporty Dave” Cossey of Arkoma, Oklahoma was born on January 5, 1946 to Melvin A. and Juanita Bernice (Edwards) Cossey in Trenton, Michigan.

 

He passed away on May 17, 2017 in Arkoma, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years.


Melvin is survived by his wife; Debra I. Cossey of the home, two daughters; Lisa Cossey of Kennedy, Texas and Suzanne Cossey of Arkoma, Oklahoma, one son; Court Cossey of Arkoma Oklahoma, four grandchildren; Tara, Stephanie, Anistahia, and Alex, three great grandchildren, two sisters; Judy Smith of California and Debbie Bailey of Texas.


Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; Jason D. Cossey and Troy D. Cossey, and two brothers; Frieland Everett Cossey and Sammy Dean Cossey. Melvin was a Christian man who loved his family dearly and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.


Funeral services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, with President Paul Martin, Brother Kevin Mann, and Brother James Neal officiating.

 

Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Mallory Martin Funeral Home of Spiro, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be; Court Cossey, James Cusick, Colton Miesner, Tyler Rodon, Anthony Bailey, and Ryan Bailey. Viewing will be on Monday from 9am-7pm.

 

Family will receive friends Monday from 5-7pm at the Mallory Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
