Press release

For the last 28 years, AES Shady Point has been a valued supporter and contributor to the people, communities, businesses and economy of South East Oklahoma and Western Arkansas.

Our hope is that AES Shady Point can continue to serve in that role. We have assembled a cross-functional team and plan to respond to OG&E’s RFP with potential solutions. Together, we will work to meet their needs as well as explore additional opportunities for AES Shady Point.

Although, the potential options for the plant outside the RFP are currently limited, our team is researching all possibilities within the state and the Southwest Power Pool.

In parallel to these efforts, we also will be preparing for the unfortunate possibility that we may have to close the plant on or about January 15, 2019 should there not be a successful outcome for AES Shady Point in the upcoming OG&E RFP.

AES Shady Point recognizes the extent of the impact and uncertainty this process creates for our people and the community. We plan to provide updates as OG&E’s RFP process moves forward.
