Press release

The Carl Albert State College Vikeconnect Radio station, also known as KVIK, is transmitting from an updated campus studio. Thanks to the generosity of Don Ed Self, CASC radio is a prominent part of CASC.

CASC Executive Director of the Development Foundation Mandy Roberts explained, “Don Ed Self provided a lasting impact at Carl Albert State College through a specific bequest to CASC for the benefit of operating the ‘Viking Radio Station KVIK.’ Even though he passed away on June 20, 2011, his legacy will endure at CASC into perpetuity. Mr. Self was a fan of the CASC radio station, and those who knew him say that he had two or three radios in his house tuned to the Viking Radio Station. CASC gratefully acknowledges Don Ed Self for his generous donation, and a plaque bearing his name is proudly displayed in the CASC radio station.”

CASC Chief Information Officer Michael Martin and CASC Recruiter Randy Armstrong have been working to upgrade the CASC station. According to Martin, to keep up with today’s world of streaming, CASC radio updates make it possible to access CASC radio online at https://vikeconnectradio.airtime.pro/#. To listen online, click the play button at the bottom left of the page at the link provided. Martin stated, “The station has a variety of music, live broadcast, podcast, book reviews, and also student debates. We air from 6 a.m. until midnight each day, with participation from the CASC Audio/Visual Club, faculty and staff. The streaming CASC radio website is adaptive and easy to access from any device with an internet connection, so as long as you have the link you can access from any computer, phone, or tablet.”

Martin explained, “Our original CASC radio location in the Hamilton Auditorium wasn’t large enough for everything we needed in our upgrade process, so we have converted a classroom just down the hall in Hamilton to house our station. We needed space for the webcast equipment, computers, and tables for live broadcasting so this larger space is working well.”

CASC Mission Statement: To provide an affordable, accessible, and exceptional education that fosters student success.
