Cheers to 85 Years Homecoming Celebration Featured

On Friday, April 12, the Carl Albert State College Alumni Association is set to recognize four outstanding individuals for their professional and personal achievements through service, dedication and loyalty to CASC at its Cheers to 85 Years Homecoming Celebration. The ceremony will be held in the Hamilton Auditorium at 7 p.m. with the homecoming coronation and CASC Concert Choir and New Horizon Show Choir performances to follow.


Mandi Broadfoot and Jo Ellison will be honored as the two 2019 Distinguished Alumnus Award Recipients.


Mandi Broadfoot is a 2002 graduate of CASC and was crowned Miss CASC in 2001. She later transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she ultimately obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. She now works from the Hobby Lobby corporate headquarters in Oklahoma City as a Buyer.


5NEWS anchor and reporter Jo Ellison is an award-winning journalist who has spent more than 15 years in the T.V. news business. Jo received her degree in business from Carl Albert State College and went on to study broadcast journalism at Marymount Manhattan In New York.


Along with the Distinguished Alumnus Recipients, CASC will recognize Jeff Shockley and the late Anita Sutter with the Wall of Honor Service Awards.


Jeff Shockley served as Mayor of Poteau from 1999 through 2019, where he was involved locally, regionally, statewide, and internationally during his tenure through service on numerous boards and committees. He was awarded Oklahoma Mayor of the Year by the Mayors Council of Oklahoma and was selected Poteau’s Man of the Year in 2007 & 2013. He was also awarded the 2019 Business Excellence Stewardship Award by the Poteau Chamber of Commerce.


The late Anita Sutter began her journey at Carl Albert State College as a student then later embarked on an 18-year career within our institution’s admissions department, where she ultimately worked as the Director of Admissions/ Management Information Systems. Anita was a proud alumnus of CASC and had a wonderful rapport with everyone she encountered and a deep passion for international students.


CASC would like to invite all faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members to join us on Friday evening in the Hamilton Auditorium at 7 p.m. to celebrate these outstanding individuals.
