General information about candidates running for House and Senate Races for LeFlore County Voters Featured

Here is little information about each candidate that will be vying for the either the House of Representative race or the Oklahoma State Senate race.

 

Mark Allen is the incumbent Republican candidate for State Senator in District 4. He was first elected to the Senate in 2010. He has served on the Agriculture and Rural Development, Energy, Insurance and Judiciary Committees. Senator Allen also served as Vice Chairman of the Transportation and Veterans & Military Affairs Committees.

 

Senator Allen and his wife Nikki live in Spiro and own their own business. He currently represents citizens of Sequoyah County and the northern half of LeFlore County.

Oklahoma Senate District 4 Republican candidate Heath Eubanks of Vian is a 9-year Oklahoma teacher and small business owner. His platform includes education, economic development and healthcare.

 

Eubanks says “The small communities of District 4 are what make Oklahoma grand…. As a state we should be doing all we can do to recruit new businesses to small towns.”

On healthcare, he states “There is a gap in our system that leaves low income earners uninsured…essentially punishing them for working…. From opioid abuse to obesity and from mental health services to prenatal care and everything in between, Oklahomans should have the best care possible.”

Democrat Chris Ford of Poteau is a candidate for Oklahoma District 4 State Senator. Ford says he is “the common man wanting to bring common sense back to Oklahoma Politics.” He is a graduate of Eastern Oklahoma State College, Carl Albert State College and Northeastern State University.

 

Ford is an Oklahoma teacher, former elected sheriff, former chief of police, and former volunteer firefighter. He also served 11 years in the U.S. military.

Sallisaw resident Eddie Martin is a Democrat vying for State Senator District 4. He fully supports Oklahoma Education, Infrastructure, Rural fire departments and Programs for the Developmentally Disabled citizens.

 

Martin also stands by state employees and realizes they have been forgotten or ignored by many legislators.

 

 

Martin and his wife, Melinda, are currently in the long-term care industry and real estate investors, owning and managing commercial and residential properties.

Eldon Duggan of Poteau is a Republican candidate for Oklahoma State Representative in District 3. His Facebook page states that he is “a strong conservative Christian man who believes in faith, family, and values… [who has] been a member for First Missionary Baptist Church in Howe for seven years and a member of the Gideons International Association for three years.”

 

The page further states that Duggan is “a hard-working individual, who prides [himself] in owning and operating Dugan’s Plumbing/Heating and air.” Duggan says he wants “to go to the Capitol with a working man’s perspective.”

Republican Lundy Kiger of Poteau is a candidate for District 3 Oklahoma State Representative. He is a Christian, pro-life conservative who supports the 2nd Amendment and is a life-time member of the NRA. Lundy is a former teacher and current industry executive.

 

He has served on several local boards and is a current member of the Fort Smith Regional Alliance (a group dedicated to bringing business to the area and economic development) and LeFlore County Coalition for Healthy Living as well as several other local and regional organizations. He has worked on many county projects to help develop the economy and overall well-being of the county’s residents.

 

Kiger’s platform includes the economy, complete funding for public education and core services including health care, veterans’ needs and funding for infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
