KTC Educators Honored at Conference Featured

More than 3,500 CareerTech employees spent August 1-2 sharing ideas and advancements in CareerTech education and learning how they can improve the system during the 51st annual Oklahoma Career and Technology Education Summer Conference at Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. The CareerTech conference is held in partnership with the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technical Education (OkACTE).


“Summer Conference brings together individuals from all of the CareerTech delivery arms: K-12 schools, technology centers, Skills Centers, business and industry services and adult basic education. They are the foundation of excellence in providing training and education so that Oklahoma has the most qualified workforce possible to power our economy. It is exciting to witness the dedication that all our CareerTech staff has for moving our system forward,” said Marcie Mack, Oklahoma CareerTech state director.


During Summer Conference, the following employees from the Kiamichi Technology Centers’ Poteau Campus received awards in their respective divisions:


Nina Morgan – Administrator of the Year – Post-secondary Adult Career Education (PACE) Division
Kelly Falkner – Carl Perkins Community Service Award – Business, Marketing, & Information Technology Education (BMITE) Division
Mike Newnam – Outstanding New Professional – Trade & Industrial (T&I) Division
Kim Hardaway – Outstanding New Professional – Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) Division

Kiamichi Technology Centers has been an integral part of the communities in southeastern Oklahoma since 1968, serving ten full counties and parts of three other counties.

 

KTC is part of the Oklahoma CareerTech system and is one of 29 districts within the state. KTC has more than 30 career programs, and offers a wide variety of evening and weekend short-term courses as well as certifications in many diverse career fields. KTC serves nearly 23,000 individuals each year, including many area companies who receive training through the Business and Industry Services Division that works with over 400 businesses each year.
