Poteau – Kiamichi Technology Center’s Education Accelerated by Service and Technology

(EAST) program at the Poteau Campus recently became the first Oklahoma school to receive the Founder’s Award of Excellence in the area of Student Growth. The Founder’s Award, named in honor of the former law enforcement officer-turned-teacher, Timothy R. Stephenson, who first established the principles of EAST while teaching at Greenbrier High School in 1996, is composed of three distinct categories: student growth; project sophistication and innovation; and community and collaboration. Poteau Campus EAST Facilitator, Kelly Falkner stated, “I am extremely proud of my students for receiving this accolade in only the second year of our program. They have worked very hard and have set the bar high for future classes.”
