Alaska Structure Set Up

LeFlore County Medical Reserve Corps set up their Quonset Hut Thursday evening at Poteau’s BalloonFest. This “Alaska” structure will serve as a heating/cooling facility as well as providing first-aid and other services to attendees of BalloonFest.

The MRC provides medical and non-medical support for events, such as the BalloonFest, as training for MRC volunteers to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities by supplementing existing response infrastructures in local communities across the state of Oklahoma.

MRC needs volunteers in many different areas including disaster relief, mental health/counseling, communications, and shelters. For more information about LCMRC, check out the LCMRC’s Facebook page.

The local director of MRC is Bobby Parker.
