The Poteau Rotary Club started a backpack program this year.

The Rotary donated 55 backpacks, the backpacks are filled with essentials for kids of all ages to the Department of Human Services Foster Care Program.

Rotary members felt the need to support the foster care program because of the recent with budget cuts to the program.

Each backpack is designed to be gender and specific. Items included with the backpacks are such things as a toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, shampoo, underwear and pajamas.

The Rotary Organization is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
