School Board Candidate Filing Set to Begin Monday, December 3 Featured

Candidates for the Board of Education in 17 Leflore County school districts will file their Declarations of Candidacy beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, December 3, and continuing Tuesday and Wednesday, Leflore County Election Board Secretary Sharon Steele said today.
Steele said the official filing period ends at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5.

All candidate filings will occur at the Leflore County Election Board office, 103 N. Church St., in Poteau, Steele said.

The Board of Education positions at stake will be filled at the Board of Education.

Primary Election scheduled February 12, 2019 and the Board of Education General Election on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. If only two candidates file, the position will be filled at the General Election. If more than two candidates file, a Primary Election will be held.


If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in the Primary Election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in the General Election.

Bokoshe School District---Office No. 4 and 2
Cameron School District---Office No. 4 and 1

Fanshawe School District---------Office No. 3

Heavener School District---------Office No. 4

Hodgen School District----------Office No. 3

Howe School District---------------Office No. 4

Leflore School District----Office No. 4 and 1

Monroe School District-----------Office No. 3
Panama School District----------Office No. 4

Pocola School District-----------OfficeNo. 4

Poteau School District-----------Office No.4

 Shady Point School District-----Office No.3

Spiro School District-------------Office No. 4
Talihina School District----------Office No. 4

Whitesboro School District-------Office No. 4

Wister School District------------Office No. 4
