Okmulgee Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Firearm, Ammunition Featured

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Michael Leon Johnson 64, of Okmulgee pled guilty to Felon in possession of a firearm &ammunition. A potential punishment of not less than 15 years imprisonment, and up to a $250,000.00 fine or both.


The Indictment alleged that from on or about June 30, 2017, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, Johnson, having been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, did knowingly possess in and affecting commerce, a firearm and ammunition which had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce.


The charges arose from an investigation by the Okmulgee Police Department, the Sallisaw Police Department, the Cherokee Marshals Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The Honorable Steven P. Shreder, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.


Assistant United States Attorney Chris Wilson represented the United States.
