Press release

On November 30, 2017, the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office requested  the Oklahoma State Bureau of investigation with assistance for a shooting death at 522 S. Bentley Road, Atoka.

When OSBI special agents arrived at the scene, Douglas Arp, 55, had died from his injuries.

His son Wyatt Arp 19, admitted to investigators he had dropped the gun, causing the weapon to fire a round striking his father.

On Dec 5, 2017, an OSBI special agent tracked down Wyatt outside an Atoka County hospital.

There, the agent questioned Wyatt more about the shooting.

After the interview, the agent arrested Wyatt on a complaint of murder in the first degree.

Wyatt was booked into the Atoka County jail.
