At 10:58 am on February 14, 2017, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were dispatched to a fatality accident that occurred on United State Highway 270, three miles west of Stuart in Hughes County.
According to the OHP report, the driver of a Ford F150, David Curley, 58 of Talihina, was westbound on US 270 when his vehicle hydroplaned, departed the road to the left, struck a tree and rolled one half times before coming to rest on its roof.
Curley, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was pinned for approximately two hours before being extricated by Stuart Fire Department using the Hurst Rescue Tool.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Austin Mass of the Pittsburg county detachment. Assisted by Troopers Ashby Sutherland, Brian Iker, Tim Baker, the Hughes County Sheriff’s Department, and the Stuart Fire Department.
