Press release

The 8th Annual Carl Albert State College Harvest Carnival was Thursday, October 5, 2017. The festivities were at the Mick Thompson Fieldhouse on the Poteau campus.

Hosted by the President’s Leadership Class with assistance from the CASC Scholars, athletes and CASC staff, this is an event for special needs students from schools throughout the region. The event includes games, prizes, a bounce house, crafts, food, music, face painting, and this year even a petting zoo!

According to CASC Vice President for Enrollment Jennifer Humphreys, “This year we had over 100 students attending the carnival along with 22 of their sponsors.” Humphreys added, “This would not be possible without the combined efforts of so many to make it a success. We appreciate the countless businesses and community partners who pitched in, donated, and volunteered. In addition, we want to offer a special thanks to the Pervasive Parenting Center, because they provided a great deal of support that included training and contacts for the carnival. Also, our CASC students raised over $1,000 in donations to host this year’s carnival.” Humphreys concluded, “Every year, this event is a highlight for those attending, and also an incredible experience for our students.”

CASC Mission Statement: To provide an affordable, accessible, and exceptional education that fosters student success.
