The pedestrian involved in the train collision on 03-14-2017 has been identified as Russell Gene Fryar (W/M, age 65) of Poteau.
The State of Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office, working in conjunction with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, was able to identify Fryar through Oklahoma Department of Public Safety fingerprint records.
The investigation has determined, through the train engineer's statement, that Fryar was standing on the train tracks facing north. As the southbound train approached Fryar, he began waving, and then Fryar took a side step to the right (east) just prior to impact.
The collision report is not available at this time, as it is being revised to include the new information.
