State Rep. Lundy Kiger (R-Poteau) today gave an update on Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality inspections of the Heavener water treatment plant and other facilities, which took place last week.

“According to the average timelines for such an inspection, the report should be sent to the city within three weeks,” Kiger said. “When this document is received by the city, I will also have access to the report. I plan to schedule two Town Hall meetings in Heavener – in the day time and in the evening – for complete transparency and to allow every residents and business owners to have the opportunity to hear and ask questions on the findings of the DEQ report.”

Kiger said he also has requested a representative of DEQ to attend both meetings to explain the report and answer questions.

“I would encourage anyone who continues to receive dirty water or has loss of property due to dirty water to contact the DEQ complaint line at 1-800-522-0206 and request that DEQ sample your water at your house,” Kiger said.
