Carl Albert State College welcomes Paul Pulley as its new Head Baseball Coach for the Vikings.

Originally from Amarillo, TX, Pulley has served as an Assistant Baseball Coach for his Alma Mater, Seward County Community College in Liberal, KS, since 2018. He previously worked as an Assistant Baseball Coach for Redlands Community College in El Reno, OK.

While not originally from the Poteau area, Pulley’s wife Briley [Benson] Pulley is a 2012 graduate of Poteau High School. The couple recently celebrated the birth of their son, Ammon, and are excited to move to the Poteau area and be closer to family.

“It’s an honor to be chosen for this position,” said Pulley. “I’m excited to bring my teaching style and abilities to the Vikings and I look forward to building on the history that’s been established with CASC baseball.”
As a student athlete, Pulley spent two years at Seward County from 2009 to 2011 where he helped lead the Saints to an NJCAA World Series appearance. Pulley is regarded as a workhorse athlete, where he pitched in 38 games for the Saints.

After Seward, Pulley played at West Texas A&M where he pitched in 34 games with a 4.64 ERA and 5 wins in two seasons at West Texas.

Following his playing career, he was the head coach of the Burkburnett Blacksox Baseball Academy in the summers of 2012, 2013 and 2014, leading the squad to the 2013 Oral Roberts University 16U Tournament Championship and a 2nd place finish in the 2012 Regional Tournament.

Pulley received his Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Sciences from West Texas A&M University in 2013 and his Masters in Sports Management from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2018.

The Vikings are excited about the playing and coaching experience Pulley possesses and are optimistic about his future at CASC.

“We had an impressive list of candidates apply for this position,” said Randy Graves, CASC Athletic Director, “but truly felt that Paul was the right fit to lead our program. I’m excited to welcome him into the Viking family and see all he’s able to accomplish with our student athletes.”

The Vikings will be hosting Open Tryouts on Monday July 8 at the Mark Pollard Field in Poteau.

All position players will tryout at 1 p.m. with Pitchers following at 2 p.m. Players must pay a registration fee of $30. For additional information, interested players are encouraged to call or text message Coach Pulley at 806-418-0811 or call his office at 918-647-1280.

“I want to encourage all local players to come tryout,” Pulley said, “and learn more about the program we are building, and the opportunities available at CASC.”
