GREAT AMERICAN CONFERENCE NEWS RELEASE

 

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s fourth weekly awards for the tennis season. Arkansas Tech’s Katharina Drebka earned the Women’s Award while Harding’s Luis Tirado claimed the Men’s Award.

 

GAC WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Katharina Drebka, Arkansas Tech, Jr., Stuttgart, Germany


Drebka netted her second singles victory of the spring portion of the season as she led the Golden Suns to a 6-3 win against Dallas Baptist. She claimed the opening set of her No 1 singles match against Liz Slaughter, 6-2, but lost the second set, 6-2. She responded by taking the third set, 6-4, to clinch the Golden Suns’ sixth point of the contest.

 

GAC MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Luis Tirado, Harding, So., La Paz, Bolivia


Tirado contributed a pair of wins in the Bisons’ 6-3 non-conference victory against Arkansas-Fort Smith. He partnered with Carlos Crisotomo, the nation’s No. 21 doubles team, for an 8-3 win against Nick Variames/Brady Kenyon. He tallied the Bisons’ first win in singles as he defeated Kenyon in straight sets
