NORMAN – Oklahoma head softball coach Patty Gasso has announced the addition of transfer pitcher Parker Conrad for the upcoming 2018 season. The right-hander will have three years of eligibility remaining when she joins the Sooners this fall.

A native of Winter Park, Fla., Conrad joins the two-time defending national champions after spending the first season of her career at the University of Missouri. With the Tigers, Conrad appeared in 19 games with three starts and posted a 1-3 record with a 3.98 earned run average and 17 strikeouts in 31.2 innings pitched.

“We are all excited to add Parker to this championship program,” Gasso said. “She has a great upside and will be instrumental in taking the reins from both Paige Parker and Paige Lowary in the future. It’s a great addition for us, and we believe she’ll play a big role in the future of our program.”

After making her collegiate debut in a start at Charleston Southern on Feb. 10 where she gave up three runs in 3.2 innings, Conrad bounced back the next day by earning a win over James Madison, who went on to win its conference and reach the NCAA Regionals. Against the Dukes, Conrad gave up two unearned runs in 4.0 innings as she recorded the first win of her career.

Conrad would make one more start during the season, getting the nod against Kentucky on April 22 where she tossed a career-high 5.0 innings. In 12.2 innings as a starter she outperformed her overall season numbers with a 3.32 ERA.

Conrad attended Winter Park High School, where she joined the varsity softball team as a freshman. She earned Team MVP honors as a sophomore as she helped her team to a district title, while as a junior she averaged 15 strikeouts per game. On the travel ball circuit, Conrad played for the East Cobb Bullets.
