RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for opening week of the basketball regular season. Southern Nazarene’s Jhonathan Dunn and Henderson State’s Pink Jones earned the honors after leading their respective teams to 2-0 weekends.

 

GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jhonathan Dunn, Southern Nazarene, G, Jr., San Antonio, Texas


Dunn led the Crimson Storm to a weekend sweep at the GAC/MIAA Central Region Challenge. Against Nebraska-Kearney, he went 8-for-14, grabbed 10 rebounds and made three 3-pointers. Against Washburn, a NCAA participant a season ago, he scored 15 points, 13 in the second half. For the event, he shot 56.5 percent from floor and 50.0 percent from the 3-point arc.

 

GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Pink Jones, Henderson State, G, Jr., Fayetteville, Arkansas


Jones helped the Reddies pick up wins in Missouri against Southwest Baptist and Sioux Falls. In the season opener against Southwest Baptist, she went 8-for-15 with five rebounds, five assists and three steals. On Saturday, she totaled 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 96-83 win against Sioux Falls. She shot 58.6 percent from the field in the two wins.
