RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s final weekly awards for the 2019 softball regular season. East Central’s Sable Hankins earned Player of the Week; Southern Arkansas’ Victoria Taylor repeated as Pitcher of the Week and Arkansas Tech’s Tymber Riley won Freshman of the Week.


GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sable Hankins, East Central, INF, Sr., Moore, Oklahoma
Hankins collected her second Player of the Week as she led the Tiger offense in their sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma State. For the week, she led the GAC with three home runs, nine runs scored, 16 total bases and a 1.333 slugging percentage. Her .583 average tied for the top mark. In addition, she posted a .706 on-base percentage and she stole three bases.


GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Victoria Taylor, Southern Arkansas, RHP, Jr., Greenwood, Arkansas
Taylor capped the regular season by picking up two wins against Henderson State. She threw a pair of complete games and allowed only one run and six hits in 14.0 innings inside the circle. She struck out eight in Friday’s 1-0 shutout. She followed up that performance by allowing just one hit in Saturday’s 5-1 win. She tallied 10 strikeouts and did not walk a batter.


GAC SOFTBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – Tymber Riley, Arkansas Tech, DP, Bentonville, Arkansas
Riley helped the Golden Suns pick up four wins as she went 6-for-11 in their series against Ouachita. She hit safely in all four games. On Friday, she hit home runs to open the scoring in both games of the doubleheader. In game two, she broke the deadlock with a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.



Sarah Evans, SS, Southern Arkansas (Went 5-for-9 with a home run as SAU swept Henderson State); Madison Leggett, SS, Harding (Homered and drove in seven runs against UAM); Mykaela Wallace, INF, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Posted a .667 on-base percentage with five runs scored)


Emily Cudd, RHP, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Went 2-0 and did not allow a run in 11.2 innings of work); Aidan Nichols, RHP, Harding (Gave up only three hits in 9.0 innings in the circle; held HSU to a .097 average); Bailey Shaffer, RHP, Arkansas Tech (Did not allow an earned run and struck out eight in three appearances vs Ouachita); Jessica Sisemore, RHP, East Central (Posted a 2-0 record with a 1.91 ERA vs SWOSU)


Hanna Jones, 2B, Harding (Went 7-for-14 with three doubles against UAM; scored five runs)
