WPS is proud to announce that we are currently making plans for a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 Seniors.

Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00 PM the seniors and their guests are invited to attend the graduation ceremony. Due to the Covid-19 situation we will adhere to the following restrictions.

  • Each senior will be allowed 8 seats INSIDE the field facing the stage which will be set up at 2nd base area. It is the responsibility of the seniors and their family to ensure CDC guidelines are adhered to in choosing the 8 people for their family section.
  • Student sections will be alphabetically arranged around the stage area.
  • There will be no diploma handout with the school board member. Pending admin approval, the plan may be to have 1 parent/guardian designated to present the diploma to the senior and then turn the tassel.
  • A photographer will be available for official photographs.
  • The event will be live streamed via the school facebook page so ANYONE may sit in the parking areas (remaining in their cars) and listen to the feed. Due to concern of overloading the system/slowing the video, local radio station KPRV will be also covering the graduation and you may listen to the graduation ceremony at 92.5 FM and 1280 AM. We appreciate them SO much!
  • We intend to video the presentation, and the students will receive a copy of that as well.
  • There will be no class video presentation at the graduation but it will be produced/shared via social media and students will receive a copy of that as well.
  • There will be no rose presentation.
  • Students will be presented their scholarships at the graduation ceremony. The information announced will be shared with the students via email for approval prior to the date.
  • Anyone choosing to sit OUTSIDE the fence will need to adhere to CDC guidelines for social distancing.
  • Graduation May 15th is weather permitting. Students will be notified via text alerts to any changes.
  • ANYONE on the field will need to wear a mask while walking to/from seating areas. They MAY remove the mask when they reach their seats and are appropriately spaced from others not in their household.
  • Those coming to the STAGE area will also need to wear masks in transit, will have hand sanitizer available, and then MAY remove the mask to deliver the speech, reapplying the mask to return to their seats.
  • During the traditional walk across the stage/presentation of diploma, the students will stand but REMAIN at their seats. (the only students approaching the stage will be honor grads delivering their speeches). 1 parent/guardian may present their diploma to the student. Photographer will take a picture. THEN the student will turn their tassel. Both parents/guardians may take a picture with them at that point and then be seated. Masks may be removed during this time but ALL participants must stay in their own seating area.
  • The photographer will be moving around and will remain masked for everyone’s protection. These photographs will be available on the Heritage website for purchase. No one else will be allowed on the field taking pictures.
