NORMAN — Thirteen University of Oklahoma baseball student-athletes were named to the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the conference office announced Wednesday. The Sooners were represented by five first-team selections and eight second-team honorees.
OU’s 13 Academic All-Big 12 selections are a program record. This marks the seventh consecutive year the Sooners have had at least six Academic All-Big 12 selections. Redshirt freshman pitcher Michael Betrus is one of the league’s three baseball student-athletes with a 4.00 GPA.
Seniors Brady Harlan, Jason Ruffcorn and Braxton Webb, junior Jordan Vujovich and Betrus led the Sooners with first-team honors. Junior pitcher Aaron Brooks was an Academic All-Big 12 selection in 2019.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the two previous semesters. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
