OU Redshirt Freshman Quarterback Spencer Rattler led the Sooners to their first win in the season opener against Missouri State Saturday afternoon. Rattler became the first OU freshman quarterback to throw 4 touchdown passes in his first career start. His passing efficiency rating of 303.3 set a Big 12 Freshman Record.
Seth McGowan is the first OU true freshman running back to score two touchdowns in his debut since Kejuan Jones in 2002 vs. Tulsa. McGowan scored his first career TD on a 1-yard run and added a 37-yard reception, both in the first quarter.

OU’s defensive players Nik Bonito and Tre Brown helped keep Missouri State scoreless in OU’s 48-0 season opener in Norman. Missouri State had only 135 yards of total offense for the game, the fewest allowed by OU’s defense since UT Chattanooga’s 38 yards in 2008.
