AUSTIN, Texas — The Oklahoma women’s golf team travels to Austin, Texas, this weekend for the 47th Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, set to open play on Saturday. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by the University of Texas and played annually at the par-72 UT Golf Club.

“We’re excited to play at a great event in Austin this weekend,” head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. “Hopefully we can take the momentum from a good finish at the Schooner and use it this weekend.”

The Sooners are coming off a season-opening runner-up finish at the Schooner Fall Classic, where Drouin-Luttrell’s team carded the field’s second-lowest team score (+5, 285) in the final round to finish in a tie for second.

Teams will open with 36 holes of play on Saturday, followed by a final 18 on Sunday.

Oklahoma’s lineup showcases Hannah ScreenLibby WinansMaria Fernanda MartinezKaitlin Milligan and Hannah Lee. The five Sooners will be paired with North Texas and Texas Tech on the opening day. Those three teams are set to see off at 8:45 a.m. CT on holes six thru 10.

The tournament will be tape delayed and broadcast on the Longhorn Network at a later date.

Libby Winans, Jr., Richardson, Texas: Winans has tallied 52 competitive rounds for the Sooners during her time in Norman, shooting par or better 19 times … Finished T7 at the 2018 Schooner Classic after firing a 206 over three rounds, tied for the sixth-lowest 54-hole score in OU history … Owns six career top-10 finishes, second-most on the team … Set the Oklahoma freshman scoring record in 2018-19 with a 72.59 … Has one collegiate victory (Clover Cup 2019) … Currently holds the third-best career scoring average vs. par in Oklahoma history (+1.22).

Maria Fernanda Martinez, R-So., Veracruz, Mexico: Notched first top-20 finish by finishing T19 at the Schooner Fall Classic … Carded career-low round of 71 in the Schooner’s second round … Appeared four times for the Sooners in 2019-20, posting a scoring average of 73.91.

Kaitlin Milligan, Sr., Norman, Okla.: Leads the Sooners with 94 career rounds and team-high 45 rounds of par or better golf … Ranked No. 58 in latest Golfstat ranking … Career scoring average vs. par of +1.08 is the second-best in program history … Has 17 top-20 finishes, 10 top-10 finishes and six top-fives, including a win at the NCAA Norman Regional in 2019 … Set OU scoring record in 2019-20, firing an average of 71.40 … Owns school records for the lowest individual round (62) and the lowest 54-hole score (199) … Has been Oklahoma’s top finisher at nine events.

Hannah Lee, Senior, Surrey, BC, Canada: Appeared in 34 rounds in her OU career … Collected a pair of top-20 finishes in her sophomore season … Career best 54-hole of 214 set at the 2019 Westbrook Invitational where she notched the best finish her collegiate career of 16th place.

HISTORY

The Sooners have been competing at the Rawls Invitational since 1976 and have 15 top-10 finishes at the event. Under Drouin-Luttrell, the Sooners have played in the event twice, finishing inside the top 10 both times.

THE COURSE

The 47th Rawls Invitational will be held at the par-72, 6,331-yard UT Golf Club in Austin, Texas.

FORMAT

Fifty-four holes will be played over two days, with 36 holes played on the opening day. The Sooners tee off at 8:45 in a shotgun start and they’re North Texas and Texas Tech. The Longhorn Invitational will use the default scoring system of play-five-count-four.
