US Marshall's Museum

Press Release

In light of the importance of this year as the 20th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks on our nation, the Marshals Museum is producing a variety of programs about Marshals Service operations on that day and in the weeks and months which followed.

To help with these programs, we are looking to you, our constituency, to help us make them the best they can be and to help us tell the story the best way we can.

Broadly, we are looking for “Important Stuff”: objects, photos, memories, and anything else with stories attached to them. These are materials related to the people who were there and the events experienced by the Marshals Service in New York, Washington, DC, and across the 94 districts.

While we will always appreciate donations to the Museum, we understand the importance of these materials to the people and families who cherish them. In line with this, we will gratefully accept select materials as loans. Related, lenders of physical images or other analog media will receive digital copies of that physical media when we return the originals to them.

If you have something you believe will aid us in the effort of telling this story or you wish to be interviewed about your experiences, please contact our curator, Dave Kennedy at dkennedy@usmmuseum.org. However, if you are currently a Marshals Service employee, please process these inquiries through USMS Historian, Dave Turk.

This is an important story and we want to tell it the best way we can. We also want it to be a correct and accurate retelling of that event and the participation of those who were on the job.

We look forward to your assistance!
