Seasonal weather arrives just in time for Live Music Events that the whole family will enjoy. Just drink plenty of water and get in there and wallow in it. There are two in Stigler this weekend on Sat. 17th. The ReUnion Days Gospel Concert downtown in the Haskell County Courthouse Gazebo. The Wright Family from Shady Point, The Gospel Cousins, and The Alverson’s start the singing at 7 pm . Bring a lawn chair.
Stigler Rodeo Sat. 17th, will have live music after the dust from the bullridin’ has settled. Garrrett Bradford. Now, if the name ain’t familiar then it soon will be. He has one song, This Way of Life, that’s featured on a lil’ tv show that ya might have seen, Yellowknife. This singer/songwriter is a rising star in Nashville and is what I call Pure Country.
Now, a lil’ bout me. I was playing in a band with Tony Jo Maddic and we started at the Choctaw cultural event from 11am til 2 pm. Then, at the Stigler Rodeo from 5-8 pm. AND then, out at Van’s club from 9-2. Who else can brag about ever playing a triple in one day?
“MJ and the Geezers” bring a free show this Friday 16th at the Pocket Park, Downtown Poteau. This trio has the best Harmonies and song selection that ranges from John Prine to some originals. Expect a lotta guitar, some mandolin, harmonica and a Tuba. A tuba, naw , just kiddin’. I highly recommend this bunch and I’ll be front row in my lawn chair. It all starts at 7 pm.
One of the best requested and attended Live events is gonna be The Merle Haggard Tribute Show. Now this ain’t some yahoo mocking Merle. Earl Hearon sings and plays the songs outta respect and admiration for his hero and favorite Country Legend. I got to play with Earl for a few years and it was a joy to hear him share Haggard tunes! “Earl Hearon and the Sound of Country” will be bringing this free, family-friendly event to the Reynolds Center Amphitheater on Sat. 17th. It starts at 7 pm. Concessions will be available. Best bring a lawn chair. Tips will be out and appreciated.See ya here.
“Rhythm Coalition” will be layin’ it down at JJ’s Grill at 7 pm on Friday 16th. This band has filled a niche of Live Music in our area with a mix of soul, R&B, Jazz, and Funk. Lotta originals, too. Get over there and git down.
Ava Earnhart hails from Ft Smith and has quite a following there. Several songs available and a new one to be released next week, The Only One. She brings her music to The Lot/Wister from 6-9 pm on Sat. 17th. You will enjoy this singer/songwriter. There is a lotta talent and a beautiful voice and we appreciate her sharing her music with LeFlore Co. folks.
Muldrow City Limits will have a dance on Tuesday 13th with the “City Limits Band” starting at 7 pm. Sat.17th Backroads will be on stage. Big Dancefloor, NS/ND kinda place that ya mighty find my Mom, Wanda, dancin’ with Raymond. David and Shelia invite ya all to come have a good time.
Crocky’s Cafe/Hackett will have Bluegrass on Friday 16th and Country Rock on Sat, 17th. Good food-Great music. Common Thread Bluegrass takes the stage at 6 pm. Then, “Movin’ On” will play some awesome Country and Rock tunes. It starts at 6, too.
