WASHINGTON, D.C.—Rep. Eddy Dempsey, R-Valliant, attended the 2023 Federal Energy and Environmental Matters Conference in Washington, D.C. June 22-24. The conference was hosted by The Energy Council, an international nonpartisan legislative organization founded in 1975 to promote a balanced energy strategy and related environmental policies.

“Being on The Energy Council builds great relationships throughout the nation, but for me, the best part is getting to see other Oklahomans, especially our young students from southeast Oklahoma, in D.C. advocating for our state’s energy industry as well,” Dempsey said.

Conference topics included the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s hydrogen hub program, energy exploration on federal lands, electricity deliverability, permitting challenges, royalty rates for oil and gas leases, reliable electric grids and the future of energy within the nation.

Dempsey has served on The Energy Council since 2020 and was appointed by Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka.

Dempsey is in his second term in office and represents House District 1 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He sits on the House Appropriations & Budget Subcommittee on Natural Resources. His district includes McCurtain County and southern LeFlore County.
