RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the volleyball players of the week for the seventh week of the 2024 season. Arkansas Tech’s Savannah Meyer earned Offensive Player of the Week; Ouachita Baptist’s Kylie Kisgen and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Zoey Sparks shared Defensive Player of the Week and the Tigers’ Courtney Hanson claimed Setter of the Week.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Savannah Meyer, OH, Arkansas Tech, So., Lake St. Louis, Missouri
Meyer opened her week with 23 kills in the Golden Suns’ four-set victory against Northwestern Oklahoma State. She hit .500 against the Rangers. Against first-place Southwestern Oklahoma State, she tallied 17 kills and hit .412. For the week, she led the conference in kills per set, 5.71; points per set, 6.00 and attack percentage, .458.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kylie Kisgen, L, Ouachita Baptist, So., Freeburg, Illinois
Kisgen recorded 38 digs in wins against Southeastern Oklahoma State and East Central. She tallied 20 digs against the Savage Storm, her third match with at least 20 digs this season. She followed up with 18 in the Tigers’ sweep of ECU. She also picked up four aces last week.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Zoey Sparks, MH, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Canyon, Texas
Sparks helped the Bulldogs move into sole possession of first place as they won at Harding and Arkansas Tech and added a non-conference win against Cameron. She averaged 1.20 blocks per set. She came up with seven blocks in first-place battle with the Lady Bisons. She added 14 kills in the four-set victory.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK – Courtney Hanson, S, Ouachita Baptist, Jr., Arlington, Texas
Hanson paced the conference by averaging a league-high 11.57 assists per set. She tallied 48 assists and nine digs in a four-set win against Southeastern Oklahoma State. She followed up with 33 assists in a sweep of East Central. In the two wins, she tallied 10 kills, hit .375 and served up three aces.
