CARROLLTON, Texas – Oklahoma proved why it’s among the nation’s elite on Tuesday, taking down a pair of top-10 teams to win the Maridoe Intercollegiate by 16 shots. Junior Jase Summy claimed the individual title and was one of four Sooners to finish inside the top 10.

The seventh-ranked Sooners (1, -7) notched their fourth win of the season and 48th under head coach Ryan Hybl. Since the start of the 2021-22 season, OU has tallied 19 stroke-play victories — the most of any SEC team. The win also extended the program’s streak to 16 straight full semesters with a tournament title, the longest run in school history. OU’s four wins this season rank sixth all-time and fifth under Hybl.

Summy (1, -6) posted rounds of 71-69-70 at the par-72 Maridoe Golf Club to claim his second career victory. He won by two shots and has now finished first, second and third in his last three events. The Keller, Texas, native led the field with 13 birdies 54 holes. He now owns eight career top-five finishes and 10 top-10s. Summy is the 16th Sooner under Hybl to win multiple events in a career.

Ryder Cowan (2, -4) finished alone in second, two shots back of Summy. A 2-under 70 on Tuesday powered the sophomore into second to secure the fourth top-five finish of his career. The Edmond native was one of just four golfers under par for the week.

Freshman Clark Van Gaalen (T6, +2) finished in a tie for sixth, earning his second career top-10 finish after grabbing second at the Ka’anapali Classic last fall. Drew Goodman (T8, +3) was one shot off of the freshman, tying for eighth at 3-over. The All-American has produced four top 10s this season.

Matthew Troutman rounded out the Sooner contingent with a top-20 finish, sharing 17th at 7-over. In eight career events, Troutman has produced six top-20 finishes. PJ Maybank III (T42, +14) played unattached from the lineup and tied for 42nd.

The Sooners were dominant in their wire-to-wire win, finishing 16 shots ahead of runner-up No. 4 Oklahoma State, 30 shots in front of No. 4 Arizona State who finished third and 32 strokes above No. 14 Alabama who grabbed fourth. The victory marked Oklahoma’s second at Maridoe as it won the 2022 event.

Oklahoma wraps up its regular season April 12-13 at the Aggie Invitational, held at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas. The Sooners open postseason play at the SEC Championship on April 23 in St. Simons Island, Ga.
