Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army and fought with honor in the Desert Storm War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge – Rifle, and Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge – Grenade for his courage and service.
Joe is survived by his loving children: Guilliano Soriano of Huntington Beach, CA, Angelo Soriano of Nixa, MO, Cruz Soriano and Alexis Soriano both of Bentonville, AR; and one cherished grandson, Emmett Soriano of Huntington Beach, CA. Joe is also survived by the mother of two of his children, Cynthia Sixkiller of Bentonville, AR, with whom he shared a portion of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Linda McCroskey of Tulsa, OK and many extended family members and close friends.
Joe shared a deep and enduring bond with Sherlyn Parham, the love of his life and mother to two of his sons, Guilliano and Angelo. Though they never married, both always held a special place in each other’s hearts and often spoke of what might have been.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Diana (Ricky) Bull, Josie Moore, Andrea Soriano, and Yvonne Soriano; and his brother-in-law, Wesley McCroskey.
In his younger years, Joe found joy playing high school football and maintaining lifelong friendships with his high school buddies. He also found pride and fulfillment in his work in land surveying. Above all, Joe considered his service to his country and his children his greatest accomplishments.
Joe will be remembered as a soft-spoken, patient, and kind soul—a man who rarely had an unkind word to say and always carried himself with quiet strength. In his later years, he devoted himself to caring for his aging parents, enjoying meaningful connections with longtime friends, sipping a good drink, and dancing whenever he had the chance.
Joe was both a lover and a fighter, and he met the end of his journey with dignity and grace, surrounded by love.
