State Representative Tim Turner (R-Kinta)

OKLAHOMA CITY – Reps. Tim Turner, R-Kinta, and Neil Hays, R-Checotah, today responded to calls and emails they are receiving about State Superintendent Ryan Walters and reports of nudity shown on a television in his office during an executive session of the state Board of Education on July 24.

“We truly appreciate the concern from our constituents and their reaching out to us. The House of Representatives does have certain limits on what can be done when the Legislature is not in session.

“We want our constituents to know that both the speaker of the House and the president pro tempore of the Senate have asked for an investigation into the recent allegations. We believe such an investigation is warranted and should be conducted before any  measures should be considered.

“Regardless of the investigation’s outcome, we stand with our students, parents, teachers, school staff and administrators. We fully understand their frustrations and concerns. We have a deep belief in public education and in those who have chosen teaching as their calling. Educators are the ones who support Oklahoma’s students every day, both in the classroom and beyond, shaping the leaders of our future.”

Rep. Tim Turner, a Republican, represents House District 15 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes Haskell County and portions of McIntosh, Muskogee, Le Flore and Pittsburg counties. Rep. Neil Hays serves House District 13, which includes parts of McIntosh, Muskogee and Wagoner counties.
