Sylvester Wiley, 92, of Fanshawe, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at his home in Fanshawe, Oklahoma surrounded by family.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Fanshawe Freewill Baptist Church in Fanshawe, Oklahoma, with Tracy Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Hicks Chapel Cemetery in Fanshawe, Oklahoma, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Sylvester was born on October 15, 1933, in Stringtown, Oklahoma, to William Henry Wiley and Cora Marie (Ellis) Wiley. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Pearlie (Bost) Wiley, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage and raised five children.
Sylvester proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he wore his uniform with honor. Following his military service, he worked in the oilfield and later in the log woods, where he remained until his retirement. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing, and was truly the life of the party. Sylvester cherished gathering his family around to share stories of the “good old days,” leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rita Wiley; granddaughter, Erica Jean; sisters, Wanda Jean and Montoz; and brothers, Fred, Lee, James, and Dwayne Wiley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 67 years, Pearlie Wiley; daughters, Joann Raymond and husband Zackary of Leflore, and Roxane Wiley of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; sons, Joey Wiley and wife June of Fanshawe, Oklahoma, and Kevin Wiley and wife Quata of Fanshawe, Oklahoma; brother, Donald Wiley of Nevada; sisters, Phillis Sanders of Waldron, Arkansas, and Christina D’Arrigo of Boston; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other loved ones and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Raymond, Joey Wiley, Kevin Wiley, Justin Wiley, and Michael Hess.
Sylvester will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cura Hospice for the compassionate care given to their husband and daddy.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 20th, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
