David “Dave” Ray Abrams Sr, 84, passed away on March 9, 2026, at his home in Poteau, Oklahoma. Dave was born on July 5, 1941, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Bernie and Evelyn (Bertrand) Abrams. Dave was a proud veteran and served in with the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He operated the Krome Shop in Poteau for many years before going to work for Roy Reed LLC and Dog Creek Ranch in 1978, until his retirement in 2012. He was an avid car guy. He spent most of his life owning and working on and around old hot rods. On any given day around town, he could be seen driving his old white El Camino around the streets of Poteau. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jimmy Abrams.
Dave is survived by his wife Charlotte of the home, his son David Abrams Jr and wife Dee of Poteau, Oklahoma, his daughter Traci Jackson and husband Jeff of Poteau, Oklahoma, his grandchildren Jayne McDaniel and husband Niles, Jaci Shadwick and husband Jared, Jentri Pottridge and husband Seth, his great grandchildren Journi, Makenzie, Jackson, Braxton, Jera, and Averi, his sisters Linda Waldron and husband Jim of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Nora Wood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his brother in law Gary Luman and wife Kim of Yukon, Oklahoma, his special friends Bob Reed and Larry Hall, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Services for Dave will be held 2pm – Thursday, March 12, 2026, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma with TJ Holt officiating and private family burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma. Military honors will be provided by our local DAV Chapter #63 from Poteau.
