Bertha Marie “Bert” Wiles joined her husband Frank in Heaven on March 8, 2026. They were married 60 years. Together, they have three loving children, Sherrie Smith and husband Tim, Frankie Edmond “Eddie” Wiles and wife Kathy, and Pattie Grider and husband Thomas. Bert’s only hope and prayer was for her entire family and friends to have a close relationship with Jesus and join them in Heaven.
If you knew Bert Wiles, you knew she had a special calling. And if she knew you or knew of you, she cared for you. If you never got “The Speech”, she didn’t care for you. She knew exactly how someone should live, eat, dress, raise your kids or animals, and how or what to cook.
She was an amazing cook, and she wouldn’t let you leave her house hungry or without leftovers in bags or an old cool whip bowl. Not many understood her calling, but she did and made sure anyone that she came in contact with her knew it too. She was loved deeply. She will be missed greatly, and maybe one day some fortunate person will carry on her calling.
Bert was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Lorene Kersh, her husband Frank Wiles, her granddaughter Karla Blaylock, her brother Jimmy Kersh, her sister Jeanie Garner, and brother-in-law Everett Stacy.
Bert is survived by her oldest daughter Sherrie Smith and husband Tim, her son Eddie Wiles and wife Kathy, and her youngest daughter Pattie Grider and husband Thomas, her grandchildren Casey Hetherington and wife Rachel, Derrick Hetherington and wife Nicole, Curlee Blaylock, Clynt Wiles and wife Ashley, Chastin Wiles and wife Cheyenne, Heather Grider, Alesha Dodd and husband Jeff, Aliena Schwizer and husband Ian, Scott Grider and wife Courtney, and Kaylee Tallakson and husband Kaiser, her great grandchildren Keelyn Grayson, Blakely Hetherington, Cassidy Hetherington, Jett Hetherington, Shayanne Gould, Savannah Hetherington, Gabriel Mesa, Antoni Carara, Akillis Hetherington, Xayden Hetherington, Ashlee Blaylock, Gunner Blaylock, Alysia McKinney, Zane McKinney, Ty Wiles, Braxton Wiles, Matix Wiles, Dixie Polecat, Dodge Polecat, Blaze Wiles, Brinkley Wiles, Braxton Custer, Kylar Grayson, Taylor Dodd, Henry Grider, Leon Grider, her great great grandchildren Cheyenne Frazier, Kyah Jackson, Aiden Jackson, Lilah Dodd, and Branden Dodd, her siblings Rufus Kersh and wife Agnes, Evalyn Fout and husband Dolphis, Howard Kersh and wife Patsy, Dephna Stacy, Larry Kersh and wife Debra, and Wayne Kersh and wife Paulette, her sister in law Diana Kersh, her brother in law Leon Garner, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and loved ones.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Services for Bert will be held 11am – Thursday, March 12, 2026, Graveside at Shady Point Cemetery with Michael Monroe officiating and burial to follow next to her husband Frank Wiles. There will be no set time for visitation with the family, but the Family of Bert Wiles invites anyone that knew her and wants to view her to come by Holt Funeral and Cremation 522 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma to view at your own convenience.
