Rebecca James, 64, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away on May 30, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on October 22, 1961, in Poteau, Oklahoma, to Marion and Carolyn (Cantwell) Butler.

Rebecca grew up in Panama and attended Panama Schools, where she enjoyed playing basketball in her younger years. She later spent 10 years running the concession stand at Skate-Reation, where she made many friendships and memories. Rebecca also enjoyed sneaking to the casino when she could. Above all, Rebecca loved her family. She was a devoted mother and a proud “Mamal” who cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren James; and two brothers, Roger Nelson and Bobby Butler.

She is survived by her children, Kristy Parker and husband John of Panama, Oklahoma; Kimberly James and Mike of Poteau, Oklahoma; Karen James of Poteau, Oklahoma; and Warren James II of Poteau, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her siblings, Terri Butler of Shady Point, Oklahoma, and Eugene Butler of Kentucky; five grandchildren, Kandace Keith, Jace Rolf, Sommer Stevenson, Nathan Owen, and Autumn Owen; five great-grandchildren, Braileigh Williams, Kendalynn Keith, Peyton Keith, Beau Stevenson, and Shiloh James; her beloved fur baby, Tonka; along with numerous other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

The Celebration of Life Services for Rebecca will be at 2 pm, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave. Poteau, Oklahoma with TJ Holt officiating with burial will follow at James Cemetery in Calhoun, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Nathan Owen, John Parker, Warren James II, Jace Rolf, Kandace Keith and Karen James. Visitation with Family will be 5pm -7pm, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at The Cedars 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma.
