Sharon Kay Geyer Hale was born in 1947 in Poteau, Oklahoma. As a young woman, she lived in California, where she spent much of her early life. After graduating from high school, she married and moved to Hawaii with her first husband. Though that chapter of her life eventually came to an end, it marked the beginning of a woman who was never afraid to embrace change, pursue new opportunities, and follow her own path.

After returning to the mainland, Sharon continued building her career and chasing her dreams of seeing the world. She loved travel and adventure and was always curious about what was beyond the horizon. During her years in Northern California, she formed many meaningful friendships, including a special friendship with her friend Keith. Together they shared countless laughs and memories that remained dear to her heart.

Later, Sharon met Neil, her second husband. She loved him dearly and wholeheartedly. Although life eventually took them in different directions, they continued to care for one another and stayed in touch through the years.

One of the most important decisions Sharon ever made was adopting a daughter, me, Callie. She hoped to find companionship and someone with whom she could share her passions, but what she gave was so much more. She gave me a life filled with experiences, creativity, and love.

My mother loved to travel and explore the world, and she made sure I had the opportunity to experience it alongside her. She took me to places many people only dream of seeing, including Italy and Africa. Through those journeys, she taught me to appreciate different cultures, embrace adventure, and remain curious about the world around me. Those trips were not just vacations; they were gifts that shaped who I am and created memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

She truly showed me the world through her eyes, and for that I will always be grateful.

My mother was incredibly talented. Her artwork reflected her creativity and unique perspective. She had a wonderful sense of style and expressed herself boldly and authentically. She loved music and embraced life with a freedom that inspired others. She taught me that being yourself is something to celebrate.

She also had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved watching Mr. Bean and the classic film Arsenic and Old Lace. Some of my favorite memories are the times she, my grandmother, and I would go to the movies together. For many years, it was just the three of us, sharing laughs, stories, and life together.

Eventually, Sharon and her mother moved back to Oklahoma from California. No matter where she lived, family was always close to her heart. She loved her family deeply and thought about them every day. She especially cherished her brother, Rick, and the bond they shared as kids.

The last fifteen years of Sharon’s life were marked by health struggles, but those challenges do not define her. When I think of my mother, I think of a woman who was creative, adventurous, funny, loving, and unapologetically herself. I think of the woman who encouraged me to see the beauty in the world and to experience all it has to offer.

She leaves behind her daughter, Callie, her grandson, Noah, and her brother, Rick. While we will miss her deeply, we carry her spirit with us—in our memories, in our laughter, in our creativity, and in the love she gave so freely.

Mom, thank you for showing me the world. Thank you for your love, your strength, your humor, and your unique way of living life. You will always be remembered, always be loved, and never be forgotten.

Rest peacefully. I love you momma.
