NORMAN — Oklahoma junior Brendan Brock was chosen in the third round with the 99th overall pick by the New York Yankees in the 2026 MLB Draft Saturday afternoon.

A junior college transfer from Southwestern Illinois College, Brock showcased his versatility throughout OU’s national title run, starting 65 of OU’s 66 games behind the plate, in the outfield or at designated hitter. The Mascoutah, Ill., native hit .302 with 74 hits, 11 doubles, two triples and 60 runs scored.

His 13 home runs, 55 RBI and 28 stolen bases all ranked second on the team. His 28 stolen bags ranked tied for 15th for a single season in program history. In the College World Series, Brock hit .400 with eight hits, a home run, double and three RBIs. In the NCAA Tournament, Brock paced OU with a .457 batting average and .576 on-base clip, hitting three homers with 13 RBIs.

Brock is the 316th draft pick all-time from Oklahoma, a number that ranks top 10 among all colleges. He is the 10th Sooner selected by the Yankees in program history and first since Tyler Hardman in 2021 (5th round, pick 153).

Since head coach Skip Johnson‘s hiring in 2018, OU has 49 draft picks and four first-round selections.

More Sooners look to have their names called as the MLB Draft concludes with rounds 5-20 on Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m. CT on MLB.com and MLB.TV.
