Brian Thomas Doyle was the kind of man who never met a stranger—and if he did, they probably weren’t strangers for long. Outgoing, quick to strike up a conversation, and always ready with something to say, silence was never really Brian’s thing. When Brian walked into a room, you knew he was there. He was loud, full of personality, and rarely hesitated to jump right into whatever conversation was already happening. He loved to make people laugh, considered himself quite the smooth talker, and those who knew him best would probably agree that Brian could have sold ice in Antarctica.
Much of Brian’s life was spent on the road, traveling the rodeo circuit across half the country selling western merchandise. It was a life that suited him well. Brian was a natural salesman, but more than selling merchandise, he had a gift for connecting with people. Everywhere he traveled, he made acquaintances who became friends, and back in his hometown of Heavener, Oklahoma, it sometimes seemed as though Brian knew everybody. Brian was a 1989 graduate of Heavener High School. Those relationships mattered deeply to him. He valued the people he met along the way and maintained friendships that stretched all the way back to childhood.
Behind Brian’s outgoing personality was a man who loved his family deeply. He was a loving son who remained devoted to his parents throughout his life. No matter how many miles the road put behind him, if his travels brought him anywhere near his mom or dad, he made a point to stop and visit. He loved his sons and was proud of the men they had become, but becoming a grandpa brought him a special kind of pride. He was incredibly proud to be Grandpa to his grandson, Jaxon, and anyone who talked with Brian for very long was likely to know it.
Brian was hardworking, determined, and—there’s really no more accurate word for it—stubborn. Whatever he chose to do, he gave it his all. Whether he was working, traveling, cheering on one of his favorite sports teams, telling a story, trying to make someone laugh, or simply catching up with an old friend, Brian rarely did anything halfway.
His life was measured in more than the miles he traveled. It was measured in the conversations he started, the friendships he kept, the people he met along the way, and the family he loved. For a man who never cared much for silence, Brian certainly filled his life with a lot of voices, laughter, stories, and people—and that is part of what will make his absence so deeply felt.
Funeral service to honor Brian’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the Big Creek Baptist Church in Heavener, Oklahoma with Brother Robbie Harrison and Brother Philip Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Page Cemetery with the military honors provided by the Poteau DAV Chapter #63 under the care and direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Viewing will be 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home and 1:00 p.m. until service time, Saturday at the Big Creek Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be: Brandon Doyle, Brian Doyle, Greg McElhany, Jesse Palmer, Kyle Ahiborn, and Curtis Hamner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Matthew Doyle, Ricky Kelley, and the Heavener High School Class of 1989.
