John Ray Carroll, age 84, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2026, surrounded by his family. John was born on April 6, 1942, in Paris, Arkansas, to Billy and Violet Carroll, he was one of ten children.
John is survived by his wife, Martha Carroll; sister, Sue Akers; two sons, Kristopher Gaither and wife, Toni, and Brent Carroll and wife, Megan; two daughters, Kimatha Longenbaugh and husband, Blake, and Ashley McKenzie and partner, Gerhard; honorary son, Jeffery McKenzie and eight grandchildren, Jalee McKenzie, Triton McKenzie, Braxton McKenzie, Schylar Gaither, Conner Gaither, Kenneth Patton, Jarrett Cranfield, and Kameron Cranfield.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Thompson, Donna Timms, Sharon Lopez, and Judy Holderfield; and brothers, Billy Carroll, Cecil Carroll, Larry Carroll, and Leonard Carroll.
John leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, stories, and compassion. He will be remembered for his easy-going spirit, his sense of humor, his love of family, and the way he could make friends wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private Celebration of Life Service for John will be held by his family at a later date.
