Colby Carpenter, Dr. Carter Mattson and Dayna Bills were honored in three distinguished award categories, recognizing their commitment to student success and the college community. These awards are especially meaningful because recipients are nominated by their peers, reflecting the respect and appreciation they have earned from their colleagues.
Colby Carpenter was named Outstanding Professional Staff Member of the Year. Carpenter has dedicated 13 years to Eastern, beginning his career in the dishroom of the college cafeteria. His journey reflects the opportunities for professional growth and the lasting connections that make Eastern a special place to work.
“Most days, my job does not feel like work; I am very blessed. It is a privilege to work at Eastern, where students come from all walks of life, and to assist them in fulfilling their goals and dreams,” Carpenter said.
Dr. Carter Mattson received the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year award in recognition of his dedication to education and commitment to student success. Mattson has contributed to the college’s mission of providing quality educational opportunities and supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award and sincerely thank Dr. Harp for this recognition and his leadership at EOSC,” Mattson said.
Dayna Bills was honored with the Outstanding Support Staff Member of the Year award, recognizing her dedication to student success and her contributions to the Eastern community.
An Eastern alumna herself, Bills began her career at EOSC in 2015 and spent nine years working in the Financial Aid Office before transitioning into student advising and her current role as Assistant Registrar. Throughout her career, she has had the unique opportunity to support students through multiple stages of their educational journeys, from navigating financial aid to reaching important academic milestones.
“As an Eastern alumna, it means so much to me to now have the opportunity to help students achieve the same goals I once worked toward myself. One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been watching students grow from the moment they begin their journey at Eastern to the day they walk across the stage at graduation. Knowing I’ve had even a small part in helping them reach that milestone is incredibly special. I’m grateful to be part of a college that truly invests in its students, and being recognized by my colleagues makes this honor even more meaningful,” Bills said.
The annual OACC awards celebrate exceptional faculty and staff members from Oklahoma’s community colleges who demonstrate dedication, professionalism and a commitment to advancing the mission of higher education.
EOSC congratulates Carpenter, Mattson and Bills on their well-deserved recognition. Their dedication and service reflect the values of the institution and the important role Eastern’s employees play in creating opportunities and making a difference in the lives of students.
“We are incredibly proud of Colby, Carter and Dayna for receiving these well-deserved honors,” said EOSC President Dr. Harp. “Each of these individuals represents the dedication, compassion and commitment to student success that define EOSC. Their contributions extend far beyond their daily responsibilities, making a lasting difference in the lives of our students and the college community. What makes these awards especially meaningful is that they come from nominations by their own colleagues, reflecting the respect and admiration they have earned from those who work alongside them. We are fortunate to have such outstanding individuals representing EOSC.”
