Douglas Ray Stone, 63, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, November 5th, 2026, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Doug was born July 21st,1963 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Royce and Margaret (Burden) Stone.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherri Stone of the home; his son, Dylan and wife Taylor Stone, of Poteau, Oklahoma; his daughter Allison and husband Justin Zertuche of Sherman, Texas; daughter Haleigh Stone, his son Drew Stone of the home and his brother David Stone and wife Jeana of Poteau, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind his cherished grandson; Jaxon Stone Zertuche, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, many dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his love and kindness.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law Sharon Simmons.
Doug was a self-employed proud business owner of Western Auto, where he found more than just a career. He genuinely enjoyed his work and, most of all, the relationships he built with the people in his community. He was a familiar, friendly face to so many, and took pride in knowing his customers.
Those who knew Doug will remember his sense of humor and his ability to make any room laugh. His smile was one of a kind and could light up the faces of everyone around him. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need, always willing to lend a helping hand, often before you even realized you needed one. He had a big heart, a generous spirit, and a love for life that was evident to everyone around him. Doug truly enjoyed life to the fullest and made lasting memories with everyone around him. Doug was also a man of faith. He attended First United Methodist Church, and his relationship with Jesus Christ was an important part of his life. His faith was a foundation that carried him through life, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith.

The Celebration of Life Services for Doug will be held 2pm – Monday, November 9, 2026, at Poteau United Methodist Church 109 S Harper St, Poteau, Oklahoma with Allison Zertuche sharing special memories with Pastor Corey Thompson and Rev. Desi Sharp Brumit officiating, and burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma. The Family of Doug Stone will greet friends from 2pm – 4pm on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Dylan Stone, Drew Stone, Justin Zertuche, Kevin Curry, James Hilderbrand, and Shane Simmons. Honorary Casket bearers will be David Stone, Richard Wells, Anthony Martin, Michael Archey, Carl Brown, David Barnes, Randall Matos, Steve Scowden, Dr. J Scott Clark, Gary Gray, and Terry Gray.
