Poteau, OK – My name is Jarrod Ridenour, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for the Office of Mayor for the City of Poteau. As a lifelong citizen of LeFlore County, I am proud to be able to call Poteau my home. Poteau has afforded me the opportunity to work to the betterment of the lives of the citizens in our city and surrounding area and am asking for the opportunity to continue to serve, as the next mayor of Poteau.
I am honored to serve on the CASC Development Foundation; Poteau Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Board of Directors; and as Chair of the LeFlore County Coalition for a Healthy Living. As a supervisor for the Department of Human Services, I am blessed to be able to work alongside community leaders and partners to battle the socio-economic issues of our area. I fully understand the value which exists in these partnerships, and the vital role they play in improving our area. If elected as mayor, I will work to strengthen relationships with our: community, business, state and tribal leaders; and will bring them together to cultivate the vision for a sustainable economic development for a positive future.
I further believe citizens and community partners should have accessibility and efficiency within their city government. Through accessibility, citizens are able to communicate effectively with city leaders about possible solutions to issues. An efficient city government is one with goals and a plan to achieve those goals, while eliminating wasteful spending.
In closing, President George H.W. Bush stated in his inaugural address: “We cannot hope only to leave our children a bigger car, a bigger bank account. We must hope to give them a sense of what it means to be a loyal friend, a loving parent, a citizen who leave his home, his neighborhood and town better than he found it.” This calling to the American people still rings true to this day; and this is why I am proud to announce my candidacy for Mayor of Poteau. I humbly ask for your vote on April 2nd. Together, we will work to make Poteau “Above the Ordinary”.
