According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a Ft Smith man was injured in an automobile accident that occurred on April 30, 2019 at approximately 9:20 pm on United State Highway 271, approximately 2 miles east of Spiro in LeFlore County.
According to the report, a 2007 Nissan Titan pickup, driven by Joe Blair 52, from Ft Smith, AR was eastbound on US 271 at a high rate of speed, came upon slower traffic exited the roadway to the left, jumping the median then crossing both northbound lanes of traffic and into the ditch on the westbound side.
The vehicle then rolled one time, coming to rest on its wheels and ejecting the Blair an unknown distance.
Blair was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Baptist Hospital in Ft Smith and was listed in stable condition with trunk internal, trunk external, arm and leg injuries.
The accident was investigated by OHP, assisted by LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, Spiro Fire Department, Murray Spur Fire Department and Spiro Police Department.
