PREP 3.0 is a working group I have been asked to participate in by Rep. Brian Hill. This is a group that focuses on what assets are available to industry and businesses looking to locate in Oklahoma. An interactive map is forthcoming, which will allow potential companies looking to relocate to see what is available across the state. The focus for now is on highways, railways, airports and educational facilities. It’s interesting finding where assets are available statewide not just in one or two industrial parks.
It was announced last week that McAlester will become a distribution hub for Amazon. I know this has been in the works for several months. PREP 3.0 can’t take credit for this development, but this is exactly what we hope to accomplish in the future.
Cashless tolls on the Oklahoma turnpikes also have been receiving attention lately. If you do not have a PIKEPASS, you will be billed when you drive on a turnpike. I can verify this system works. I recently drove the Turner Turnpike in a vehicle with no PIKEPASS, and it almost seems the bill beat me home. These tolls are considerably higher than the PIKEPASS amount. This is designed to encourage you to sign up for a PIKEPASS. This saves the state (and you) money on having to send individual bills each time a motorist passes through a toll gate.
As always, thank You for allowing me to serve you. I can be reached at (405) 557-7381 or by email at jim.grego@okhouse.gov.
