As reliably as the Sun rises, The Old Farmer’s Almanac is back with a new edition and a big anniversary: 235 years and still going strong! First published in 1792 during George Washington’s first term as president, The Old Farmer’s Almanac is now in its third century of publication and remains the only almanac available in print throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Temperatures will be near to above normal across much of the U.S. Remember: while it won’t be as cold, it’s still winter!
The exception to above-normal temperatures will be a swath from central New England through the Appalachians and the Ohio Valley, and in Hawaii. In these areas, colder-than-usual temperatures will dominate the season.
A wet winter for about half the country. This includes parts of the South, eastern Ohio Valley, the Heartland, from the Lower Lakes through eastern areas of the Upper Midwest, the Intermountain region to the Pacific Coast, Hawaii, and northern Alaska.
Heavier-than-usual snowfall in central New England through the Appalachians, the Intermountain region, the Pacific Northwest, and Alaska. Almost everywhere else that usually receives snow will see less accumulation than normal.
The Almanac’s meteorologists are also watching several natural phenomena that could impact this winter’s forecast. These include surface temperatures in the Indian Ocean, which could strengthen the Pacific jet stream and lead to an increase in storms in parts of the country.
